Founded in 2000, Duo Rivera is a violin and piano duet compose of sisters Raquel and María Luz. Aimed to promote the Spanish Classical Music, the sisters hold a special regard not only to contemporary music, but as well as to traditional Classical repertoire. The duet has performed various pieces by Spanish composers in numerous concerts across Spain, Europe, the Americas and Asia.
Right now, the Rivera sisters are busy developing several musical projects, focused mainly on classical and contemporary Spanish music for piano and violin, and especially Galician production, in relation to European Classical Music.
This Duet has also performed pieces by some of the less known Spanish composers, recovering their work and promoting it worldwide. They are known for incorporating music with
other arts, in honor to some key figures of the Spanish repertoire.
The international premiere of this duet took place in a competition in France – Paris, (Les Invalides), Lyon (Jean Moulin University), Toulouse (Instituto Cervantes)– in 2004. Since then, María Luz and Raquel have performed in several Spanish and European auditoria, increasing their repertoire. Among their international appearances together is a concert in Mexico which is also a tribute to Isaac Albéniz on his centennial anniversary.
Duo Rivera will be held on October 27, 7 p.m. at the CCP Little Theater. This concert is presented by Instituto Cervantes, in cooperation with the Spanish Embassy in the Philippines, AECID CCP and the Xunta de Galicia.
